Fire Inspector CE Program
Self-paced, on-demand, mobile ready. Valid for one recertification period, up to one year.
How Fire Inspector CE works in Texas
The Texas Commission on Fire Protection regulates fire inspector certification, and continuing education is required each certification period to renew. Fire Inspector is a TCFP discipline, and the CE rules work in layers rather than as a single number.
| Requirement | Hours |
|---|---|
| Base CE, employed by a department | Minimum 18 hours per year |
| Base CE, individual certificate holder | Show a minimum of 20 hours if audited |
| Annual injury report review (part of the base hours) | 2 hours, most recent TCFP injury report |
| Each discipline you are appointed to, including Fire Inspector | 2 additional hours per year, per discipline |
What this means for a fire inspector. Your base CE covers structure firefighter renewal. Fire Inspector then adds 2 discipline-specific hours on top. Our Fire Inspector program is built to satisfy those discipline hours. If you also need your base hours and your injury report review, you can complete those with us in the same account.
Inside the Fire Inspector program
The program is delivered through our self-paced, on-demand platform. Course material uses a mix of learning methods including case studies, expert video, and downloadable transcripts, with an Ask the Expert feature if you have questions as you work.
- Immediate 24/7 access, start the moment you register
- Instant course completion certificates saved to your history file
- Mobile ready platform, complete it on any device
- Attendance verification to meet state guidelines
- Valid for one recertification period, up to one year, then repurchased
The injury report review is mandatory too
Every Texas firefighter, inspectors included, must complete the 2-hour injury report review each year. Of your base hours, two must review the most recent TCFP injury report, focused on the top three leading causes of injury during the reporting period. The report is the one published in the same year you are renewing.
We offer this as a separate course for $25. It changes every year and is easy to overlook, so add it when you complete your other hours.
Hold more than one discipline? Each one adds its own hours. A hazardous materials technician certification, for example, adds 8 technician-level hours per year on its own. See our Texas firefighter CE requirements page for how the full picture fits together across disciplines.

Texas Fire Inspector CE FAQs
How many CE hours does a Texas fire inspector need?
Fire Inspector is a TCFP discipline, so it adds 2 continuing education hours per year in that discipline on top of your base requirement. Your base requirement is a minimum of 18 hours if you are employed by a department, or 20 hours shown if audited as an individual certificate holder, and it includes the 2-hour injury report review. Confirm your exact total with TCFP or your department, since it depends on employment status and how many disciplines you hold.
Is this course TCFP approved?
Yes. CE Solutions is a TCFP-approved continuing education provider and has served Texas firefighters since 1997. Our courses are accepted toward TCFP renewal.
Can I complete Texas fire inspector CE online?
Yes. The program is fully online, self-paced, and available 24/7 on any device. Certificates are issued immediately when you pass and saved to your history file.
Does the Fire Inspector program include my injury report review?
The injury report review is a separate 2-hour course because it changes every year. The Fire Inspector program covers your discipline hours. Add the injury report review, offered separately for $25, to cover that annual requirement.
How long is the course valid?
Your purchase is valid for one recertification period, up to one year, after which it is repurchased for the next cycle.
I hold fire and EMS certifications. Can I do both here?
Yes. Dual-credentialed providers can complete TCFP fire CE and EMS CE in the same account. See our requirements by state pages for EMS.
