Who we want to hear from

You don't need to be a professional writer. You need to know the job and be able to explain it to someone who does it too.

EMTs

Basic life support, patient assessment, airway, trauma, and the realities of 911 and interfacility work.

AEMTs

IV access, advanced airway adjuncts, medication administration, and bridging BLS and ALS care.

Paramedics

Cardiology, pharmacology, critical care, flight, pediatrics, and complex patient management.

Firefighters

Fireground operations, forcible entry, hazmat, rescue, officer development, and firefighter safety.

Read finished courses and check them for clinical accuracy before they go live. We need several reviews every month, so this is a steady option if you have a sharp eye.

    Go to our careers page and sign the subject matter expert contract. We can't review applications without it.

  2. Email your certs and resume

    Send a copy of your current certification and your resume to sme@ems-ce.com. Tell us whether you want to write, teach on video, peer review, or all three.

  3. Get matched with a project

    We'll review your background and reach out with a topic or review assignment that fits your experience.

Do I need to be currently certified?

Yes. Include a copy of your current EMS or fire certification when you email your application.

Do I need writing or teaching experience?

No. Field knowledge matters most. You'll work from an approved outline, and our editors clean up grammar, formatting, and references.

Is this a job or contract work?

It's contract work. You sign our SME contract before you apply, and you're paid per project.

Can I earn CE credit for creating a course?

Depending on your state, yes. Some states give CE credit for authoring continuing education. Check with your state EMS or fire certification office for the rules where you're licensed.

Is the work remote?

Yes. Everything is done remotely on your own schedule, within the deadline agreed for each project.

How long is a CE article?

It depends on the topic. Many of our articles run 10,000 words or more. We agree on the scope before you start writing.

What happens after I submit my work?

Every course goes through peer review and editing before it's published. You may be asked to revise sections based on that feedback.

What does teaching on video involve?

Recording yourself teaching a topic or demonstrating a skill. We'll talk through format and equipment when we match you with a project.

Can I do more than one type of work?

Yes. You can write, teach on video, and peer review. Just tell us in your email which ones you want to do.
