Nevada EMS Recertification Requirements

Hours, ImageTrend tracking, and EMS continuing education requirements for Nevada EMRs, EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics

Important Notice: The information on this page is provided for general informational purposes only and should not be considered legal, regulatory, or professional advice. EMS recertification requirements vary by state and can change at any time. All EMS providers are responsible for verifying their specific certification, recertification, and continuing education requirements directly with their state EMS regulatory authority before relying on any information published here.

Nevada EMS recertification works on a state-only path. The state does not require you to maintain NREMT certification. Nevada is distinct in two important ways: providers must track their CE hours through the ImageTrend system, and no single CE category can exceed 10 hours toward the total requirement. This means careful planning on what CE you take.

The Nevada 10-Hour Per Category Cap

PLAN YOUR CE STRATEGICALLY
Maximum 10 Hours From Any Single Category

Nevada requires that no more than 10 CE hours come from a single category toward your total recertification requirement. This means you’ll need to diversify your CE across multiple topic areas regardless of your certification level.

For example, a Nevada EMT completing the 24-hour requirement cannot take 24 hours of Cardiology — that would exceed the 10-hour cap. Plan your CE selection across at least 3 categories to comfortably stay within the cap.

ImageTrend CE Tracking Requirement

REQUIRED FOR RENEWAL
Track Your CE Hours in ImageTrend

Nevada requires EMS providers to track their continuing education hours through the ImageTrend system. This is the state’s official record-keeping platform for CE compliance.

As you complete CE courses through CE Solutions, log each course in your ImageTrend account with the certificate details. Keep your CE Solutions certificates as backup documentation.

NREMT and Nevada Recertification

Nevada does not require NREMT certification for state license renewal. You can recertify in Nevada using state CE requirements alone.

If you choose to maintain NREMT certification, you will follow the NREMT recertification requirements separately. NREMT operates on its own cycle and uses the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) structure. For complete details on NREMT recertification by level, visit the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians website.

Maintaining NREMT alongside your Nevada cert offers portability if you ever work in another state, but it requires CE hours beyond Nevada’s state requirements.

Does Nevada require NREMT certification?

No. Nevada is a state-only recertification path. You can renew your Nevada EMS certification without maintaining NREMT. Many Nevada providers still keep NREMT for reciprocity with other states, but it’s not required.

How many CE hours do I need for Nevada recertification?

Nevada requires 12 hours for EMR, 24 hours for EMT, 30 hours for AEMT, and 40 hours for Paramedic. These hours must come from multiple categories to comply with the 10-hour-per-category cap.

What is the 10-hour per category cap?

Nevada limits the number of CE hours that can come from a single category to 10. For example, a Paramedic completing 40 hours cannot exceed 10 hours in Cardiology. Plan your CE across multiple categories to stay within this rule.

What is ImageTrend?

ImageTrend is Nevada’s official CE tracking system. Every Nevada EMS provider must log their continuing education hours into ImageTrend as proof of compliance. Keep your CE Solutions certificates as backup documentation in case of an audit.

Can I complete all my Nevada CE hours online?

Yes. CE Solutions delivers all courses online, accessible from anywhere with an internet connection. Just make sure your course selections diversify across multiple categories to comply with Nevada’s 10-hour cap.

Where do I submit my Nevada EMS renewal?

Nevada EMS renewals are processed through the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health EMS program. CE hours must be logged in ImageTrend before renewal submission. Contact DPBH directly for application instructions, status questions, or licensure inquiries.
